"Exit Only is an enigmatic presentation of a common bullfrog in a way few have ventured to present it. At first glance you note the two
main elements in the piece. Secondary only to the frog itself is the sign which harkens back to the time-tested Warner Brothers cartoon font in exactly the way we remember it. Buthere we do not see a
wiley coyote or a waskily wabbit. No, and furthermore we do not identify with the bullfrogs protruding or defecating anus. We instead hone into the light blue space in the center left, as it offers us a moment,
perhaps more, to seek respite from the experience. The figure on the left is no doubt representative of the artist himself in such a moment of reprieve."brian duff 12-3-04 |
