Comet, 1996, Oil |
|
|
This is another one I have a soft spot for. It is astronomically correct, with the relative positions of the moon, the big dipper, large magellanic cloud, north star
and the comet with the Japanese name (starts with H?) that appeared in the spring of 96. This was the first comet I ever saw, and it made quite an impression on me. This is another good 'blindspot', but it
just didn't quite work as a composition. |

I would like to say that I actually really like this painting. Maybe
not your best, but I like moon in it and I took some photographs of Comet Hyakutake back in '96. Just found a bunch of slides of it I never had developed, too. Bob From Boulder 1/12/02 |

it is not that bad. it doesn't deserve to be on a Bad Art page! it's seemingly
sparse next to your other work, which is doing a million things at once....this one is just....settling. settled. i get the feel i'm really looking up into the sky when i look at it. i like it. so
be nicer to it! ~elizabeth in berkeley 3/25/03 |

eah, you are right. this one sucks. It is visually uninteresting and communicates nothing. astronomical accuracy means fuck all to me.
However, i kind of like Father Flame Thrower. That one is cool, even though ... Cody Darling, 2/17/04 |
